SENIOR ADULT HOMECOMING IN TOCCOA, GA

Last week, we had the wonderful privilege and blessing of attending the Senior Adult Homecoming at our Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa GA.  I had heard about our conference center for many years but this was my first time to attend a conference. Six of us from our church's senior group spent 3 great days together enjoying the beauty of the mountains, lots of good food, worshiping with about 200 people, and having lots of fun talking with each other.

The assembly is nestled in the mountains of North Georgia by the lovely Lake Louise and is a beautiful place to visit for a meeting or assembly.  It is used by church and business groups as a meeting place and has camps all summer for youth and children.  They have everything you need for these types of activities and it is secluded and away from distractions.  There was not even a TV in most of the rooms but that was OK for you didn't have time to watch it. A few days without "the news" was relaxing.

This is the dining hall where we had good food and fellowship around the table.  I was surprised how good the food was for it was delicious and plentiful. Much of the work was done by volunteers and we were treated like special guests at all meals.  If you give me good, sweet tea and coffee, you have my eternal thanks and I had both at every meal.

The "table talk" was interesting and enjoyable as we discussed our families and  how we grew up, and bragged on our children and grandchildren.  Of course we discussed lots of other topics also and laughed a lot and discovered that we really enjoyed being together. Relaxing around a table to eat and drink together is an ideal way to learn about your friends and discover new ones.

The brochure said we would meet and eat, meet and eat, and meet and eat and it was correct for there were 3 meals a day and 3 snack times.  If you were hungry, it was your own fault.

Some of the beauty around the assembly.

I didn't take pictures during the worship times each day but needless to say, they were exceptional.  The worship team leaders were Bob Smith and Jeff Clegghorn , and out pastor was John Bryan.  These men are talented musicians, love the Lord, and are gifted by God to lead others in worship.  Worship times were inspirational, fun, and filled with music and laughter.  Think this is a little bit like heaven will be.

This was one of our many snack times  and were provided and served by Baptist Villages.  They did a great job.

Tuesday afternoon, we took a couple of hours to visit Toccoa Waterfalls, which are beautiful and awe inspiring.

These  are one of the tallest free-falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. and is located on the campus of Toccoa Falls College, a four-year, fully accredited Christian college.

The rainbow at the bottom of the falls reminded me that God created all this beauty.

This was one of the highlights of the trip for me.  The beauty of God's world which He created for us is awesome and awe inspiring. How can you see this beauty and sing His praises.

We will surely return to Toccoa in the future for more Senior Homecomings!  They have them during the Christmas season and in the spring.  I hope the next time we go that we will have many more to go with us.

Ya'll have a good day today and remember to encourage at least one person today to be all they can be.
